BPI at 76...

The Bureau of Plant Industry celebrated its 76^th Anniversary at its compound in San Andres, Manila last January 23-24, 2006 with a theme "BPI at DA-RFU's: Magkabalikat sa Pagpapaunlad ng Agrikultura."

Among the highlights of the event include a program, where notable visitors like Hon. Senator Ramon B. Magsaysay, Jr., Senate Committee on Food and Agriculture; Hon.  Nereus O. Acosta, Representative from Bukidnon; and Hon. Secretary of Agriculture, Domingo F. Panganiban, gave inspirational messages to grace the occasion.  Another was the opening of the exhibits and tour to the "Urban-Organic Demo Garden" which is a project of Hon. Senator Ramon B. Magsaysay.

Recognition and honor awards were given to personnel from within and outside BPI who performed exemplary research activities and regulatory services to meet the vision and mission of the agency.  Also, sectoral meetings on the subjects of Plant Quarantine, Seed System, Pesticide Residue, Research and Development and Pest Surveillance.  To give icing on the event was the conduct of a sports fest dubbed as "Palarong BPI."
